Quick Notes

Sector: Commercial

Contract Type: BMS & EMS

Location: Damansara, Selangor

The background

The Ikano Power Centre (IPC) Shopping Centre, located in Damansara, Selangor, was a prominent retail destination known for its diverse range of shops, dining options, and entertainment facilities. As part of its commitment to sustainability and operational efficiency, IPC undertook a significant retrofit of its existing Building Management System (BMS).

The primary objective of the retrofit was to increase the efficiency of the chiller plant and reduce operating costs. To achieve this, an Optergy Enterprise system was installed, taking over the operations of the chiller plant and Air Handling Units (AHUs). This upgrade also included the control of newly installed Variable Speed Drives (VSDs) for the chiller plant pumps and cooling tower fans.

Our solution

Integration played a crucial role in this project. The control of chillers and AHUs was managed via the existing Johnson Controls Direct Digital Controllers (DDCs), which were seamlessly integrated into the Optergy Enterprise system. Additionally, the new VSDs were controlled using Alerton controllers, ensuring a cohesive and efficient management system.

Results

This retrofit not only enhanced the energy efficiency of the IPC Shopping Centre but also exemplified the centre’s dedication to adopting advanced technologies to improve sustainability and operational performance.
